Private Tour Details
Day 1: Yogyakarta – Jombang – Mount Bromo
Your 3-day tour of East Java's stunning volcanoes will begin with you being picked up from your hotel in Yogyakarta and transferred to the city's railway station to catch the train heading east. As you relax on the journey, which lasts around four hours, admire the beautiful natural landscapes of the Indonesian island. Did you know that Java is home to an amazing wealth of wildlife and plants?
Having arrived at Jombang train station, you'll travel by bus to your accommodation for the night, which is located not far from Mount Bromo. After indulging in a delicious meal to build up your energy after your journey, you'll have the rest of today free to explore the surrounding area. The exceptional location of your hotel is perfect for taking in the incredible views of the volcanoes for which Java is famous.
Day 2: Mount Bromo – Penanjakan – Ketapang
Start your second day early, meeting in the hotel lobby at the crack of dawn to hop into the all-terrain Jeep that will take you to Penanjakan. You'll be glad we woke you up when you watch the sun rise over the Tengger caldera: seeing the first rays of the sun illuminate the volcanic landscapes around Mount Bromo in vibrant purples, oranges and scarlets creates a sight you'll never forget.
After the best possible start to your day, you'll have the opportunity to discover Mount Bromo up close. Climb onto horseback and enjoy a peaceful ride around the volcano and its surrounding peaks. The horse riding route will end back in the foothills of Mount Penanjakan, where the Jeep will be waiting to take you back to the hotel. You'll then eat a well-deserved breakfast before leaving Bromo volcano behind and setting off on the road to Ketapang, located on the eastern coast of Java.
In Ketapang, you'll be treated to a mouth-watering lunch of local Indonesian delicacies before having the rest of the day free to explore the city. You'll spend the night here, ready for the final day of the tour tomorrow.
Day 3: Ketapang – Ijen – Gilimanuk (Bali)
Day three will see another early start, as your all-terrain Jeep picks you up from your hotel in Ketapang for more volcanic fun. A two-hour drive will bring you to the Paltuding Visitor Centre, where you'll embark on a hiking route up to the volcanic crater of Ijen, one of the most incredible sights in East Java. As well as its piercing turquoise lake, Ijen is known for the electric-blue flames that ignite from its lava from time to time, an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon!
For safety reasons, we can't see the blue lava, but we'll tell you why it has this color. Then, we'll walk back down to Paltuding, where the Jeep will take you to Ketapang for a hearty breakfast at the hotel. Well-fed and rested, you'll set off again to the nearby port to catch a ferry to Gilimanuk, a town located on the north-west coast of the paradise island of Bali. After a short 50-minute cruise, you'll be free to explore the beautiful Indonesian isle as you wish. We'll arrive in Bali at around 12 noon, however, we may arrive later due to unforeseen circumstances.
