We'll leave Yogyakarta and head to the Merapi volcano, the most active volcano in Indonesia, which has erupted 69 times since 1548! Did you know that its name means "mountain of fire"?
As we get closer, we'll marvel at the incredible landscapes of this volcanic cone. We'll also visit a village located at the foot of the mountain to discover what it's like to live at the foot of an active volcano!
In this case, we'll follow the same itinerary as the previous option. Afterwards, we'll leave you free time for lunch and then we'll meet again to visit the Ulen Sentanu Museum. Here, we'll learn about the origins and secrets of the legendary kingdom of Mataram.
We'll pick you up in Yogyakarta before sunrise to head to Punthuk Setumbu. Here, we'll hike uphill for about 20 minutes to a panoramic viewpoint from where you can see the Merapi volcano and the temple of Borobudur.
You'll admire a beautiful sunrise here, followed by a visit to the shrine. Afterwards, we'll return to the 4x4 to tour the landscapes of the Merapi volcano and stop at the temple of Prambanan, the highest temple in Indonesia, to visit its interior.
After the tour, we'll leave you free time for lunch in a restaurant and then we'll return to Yogyakarta.
