Kefalonia Day Trip
Melissani Lake and the Drogarati Caves await... Discover the most fascinating historic and natural sites on the Greek island of Kefalonia on this day trip from Zante.
Kefalonia Day Trip
At 6:30 am, we'll meet on Kalamaki Main Road. From there, we'll set off for the north of Zante. We'll stop at the port of Skinari, where we'll hop on a ferry at 8 am. Our ferry will take us to Artgostoli, which is the capital of Kefalonia.
After a boat trip lasting between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours, we'll disembark at Argostoli. Here, we'll set off on our tour of Kefalonia and head to the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos, the island's patron saint.
As well as admiring the exterior of the temple, which is considered one of the most important sacred places in Kefalonia, we'll also have a view of Mount Ainos. This small peak happens to be an extension of a mountain range that crosses Albania and Serbia!
During our day trip to Kefalonia, we'll also visit the Drogarati Caves. Did you know that Maria Callas herself sang in them? We'll learn all about the caves as we admire the stalactites and stalagmites.
Having visited the caves, we'll head to Melissani Lake. You're sure to be enchanted by this completely magical place! We'll board a boat and sail across the cave lagoon to get the best possible views of its dazzling turquoise waters.
Who's hungry? After the boat cruise, we'll go to the village of Aghia Efimia, where you'll have free time to get some lunch in a local restaurant. We'll then reconvene after eating and make a photo stop at Myrtos Beach to admire the beautiful views of the Ionian Sea.
Finally, we'll visit Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. From here, we'll take the boat back to the port of Skinari. Once we're back at this point in Zante, we'll take you to the starting point. Our arrival is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
