Andrea is a very knowledgeable, engaging and friendly guide. The only flaw is that she speaks very quickly in English and since it's not my native language I struggled a bit to follow her.

Palma de Mallorca free walking tour

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Plaza Mayor, right in the heart of the city before embarking on our journey through the fascinating history of Palma - from Roman Palma to Medina Al-Mayurqa to the Ciutat de Mallorca.

From the main square, we'll make our way through the incredibly well-preserved historic centre, discovering the town's immense cultural wealth along the way. At each corner of the city, we'll come across iconic shops and modernist buildings such as the beautiful Almacenes El Águila.

If you're a foodie, you'll love the Mercat de l'Olivar market. As we learn all about Mallorcan cuisine, we'll relish the wonderful aromas, colours and flavours of the many and varied food stalls. Feel free to grab yourself a snack!

We'll continue down the narrow medieval streets, going through the Plaça del Banc de l'Oli on our way to the Santa Eulalia church. As we'll discover on the tour, this church is the oldest in Palma, constructed in the year 900 and is considered a Bien de Interés Cultural (site of cultural interest). It's also located a stone's throw from the Plaça de Cort, where the Palma City Hall is located among other interesting landmarks.

Did you know that Palma is known as the City of Patios? As we wander through the Old Town, we'll stumble across a number of beautifully decorated traditional Mallorcan patios and stately homes constructed by noble families in the city.

After heading through the beautiful Bishop's Garden, we'll finally arrive at the Palma Cathedral, also known as La Seu. This magnificent structure is made from gold sandstone and is said to be one of the largest Gothic structures in the world! The cathedral has become a symbol of the Balearic capital along with the  Royal Palace of La Almudaina which is directly in front of it. This palace was where the kings of Mallorca and, later, viceroys and governors lived during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Our tour will conclude in the Parc de la Mar, from which point we'll be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the Renaissance-era walls and the cathedral!
