Meet us at the Taormina bus station to kick start our thrilling day trip to Palermo and Cefalu. Ready to explore two of Sicily's most charming towns?
After a 3-hour bus ride, we'll arrive at our first stop of the day, Palermo. Upon arrival, we'll jump right into a guided tour of the most emblematic sites in the capital city of Sicily.
We'll stroll through the city's old town neighborhood to arrive at Quattro Canti, or four corners, where its two main streets, Via Maqueda and Via Vittorio Emanuele, intersect. Fun fact: those four concave facades of the buildings were completed back in 1621!
Next up, we'll pass by Martorana Church in Bellini Plaza. This temple, considered one of the most historically significant sites in the area, underwent several renovations, leading to various architectural style changes over the years.
Then, we'll continue our route, arriving by foot at Pretoria Plaza to reach the Il Capo Market. We'll make a brief stop where you can enjoy a typical dish and savor local flavors.
With replenished energy, we'll make our way to the second location of the day: Cefalu, along the northern coast of Sicily. After a short hour bus ride, we'll visit the historical Old Town as we arrive at the Cathedral, known for housing a Norman-Byzantine mosaic of the Christ Pantocrator.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point, bringing our immersive day to an end between 12 to 13 hours later.
