Itinerary

Head to Piazzale Ostiense, just outside the main entrance to Piramide Metro Station, at 9:30am and greet your guide. Take the underground train Roma-Lido to Ostia Antica, which only takes 30 minutes.

Follow your English-speaking guide through the well-preserved archaeological remains, while you learn about the city’s fascinating history, once Rome’s most important seaport and with a population of approximately 100,000 inhabitants.

Visit the Baths of Neptune, where you’ll admire a beautifully intact mosaic of the sea god. These baths once had numerous pools, saunas and gymnasiums.

Go to the imposing amphitheater, which thanks to its impressive state of preservation, still houses numerous concerts and shows. Go back in time and feel like one of the 2,000 spectators once did. Next, head to Diana’s House, a great place to get a glimpse of how the citizens of Ancient Rome used to live. It is full of original objects of the time. Afterwards, pay a visit to Thermopolium, an old tavern that still preserves the stands where the food was once served.

The tour will come to an end in the Forum of Corporations, an open-air market where people met to discuss and exchange ideas. Once you have explored the archaeological remains, you’ll return to the train station and head back to Rome.
