We had Martin as our tour guide and he was very informative and polite. We enjoyed the tour very much, especially Martin’s secret locations (unknown). We also learnt a lot about the history of Gaudí and modernism in Barcelona and recommend this tour very highly.

Discover the heart of the Catalan Modernisme movement in Barcelona on this guided walking tour that will take you on a journey to see Spain's most important modernist symbols.

Gaudi Tour

Meet your guide at the Jaume I Metro Exit in the heart of the Gothic quarter. From here you'll begin your three hour walking tour of the Catalonian capital's greatest examples of Modernist architecture.

While millions of visitors flock to Barcelona each year to see the iconic Sagrada Familia, there are countless other examples of the Modernism movement made famous by Gaudi scattered throughout the city. As well as visiting some of these masterpieces, your guide will take you on a journey into the background of the artistic movement and the political and social upheaval that gave rise to it.

Throughout your walking tour, you'll discover how Gaudi's mark has been left across the city: admire Casa Milà, a residential building also known as La Perdrera or the "Stone Quarry" for its rough-hewn façade, and contemplate the natural form of Casa Batlló, nicknamed the "House of Bones" for its organic, skeletal features.

Follow your guide along the wide avenues of the Eixample district, which is home to a number of building façades that are symbolic of Catalan Modernism, as well as cafes and bars that were favourite haunts of the emblematic artists and architects of the movement.

Putting the finishing touch on your tour, you'll reach the Sagrada Familia. The enormous basilica, on which construction began in 1882, is famously unfinished. Despite ongoing building work, it is a magnificent example of Gaudi's distinctive designs. As you marvel at the exquisite carvings, representative of the architect's devout Catholicism, you'll learn all about his life, works and death.

Your Gaudi and Modernism tour of Barcelona will come to an end by the Sagrada Familia.
