Beijing Highlights: Forbidden City & Mutianyu Great Wall Tour

  • 10 reviews | 98 travellers
Mike was a very attentive guide and he explained us the life in the Forbidden City and together with the driver they led us perfectly to visit the Wall despite the 10cm of snow. Quite an experience! The only but is that the visit is greatly extended by commercial visits (jade shop and tea room).

Tour Details

We'll meet at the indicated time at Exit C of JinYu Hutong subway station to start this adventure through the history of China. Ready to discover the great treasures of Beijing in one day?

From here, we'll head to the imposing Forbidden City. We'll enter the largest and best preserved palace complex in imperial China, a place that served as home to 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

During a 4-hour guided tour, we'll stroll through its grand halls, quiet courtyards and discover the fascinating architecture that has endured for centuries, revealing the secrets of the emperors and dynasties that shaped Chinese history!

After exploring the Forbidden City, our route continues to the Great Wall of China. You'll take a public bus to the Great Wall parking lot and, after picking up your tickets at the Visitor Center, board the shuttle bus to the entrance. There, you'll visit the Mutianyu section, known for its beauty and well-preserved stretches.

You'll have 2.5 hours of free time to explore, at your own pace, this ancient marvel that is a landmark of military engineering surrounded by breathtaking landscapes of pine and cypress forests. Walk around its watchtowers, climb to its highest points to enjoy unforgettable panoramic views, and even take the cable car. You can also take the opportunity to have lunch at one of the restaurants nearby.

After this exciting experience at the Great Wall of China, you'll return to the Visitor Center to catch the bus back to the center of Beijing.

The tour will end 11 hours later at a drop-off point near Dongzhimen subway station, an excellent location to continue exploring the city if you wish.
