On this tour of Beijing's hutongs, we will explore the narrow alleys that make up the old town of the Chinese capital. Are you ready to discover its most traditional side?
At the appointed time, we will meet at Exit I of the Qianmen subway station and from there we will walk along this busy shopping street, a perfect place to delve into the history of Beijing.
As we stroll along, we will gradually reveal the secrets of the capital's narrow alleys. To do this, we will venture into Xianyukou, one of Beijing's hutongs known as “fresh fish street.” This spot is a favorite for enjoying street food and learning about Beijing's culinary traditions.
Afterwards, we will go to one of the most modern parts of the city, Sanlihe Hutong, where we will see how these alleys have evolved over the centuries, leaving tradition behind and becoming a prominent commercial and residential area.
Next, we will return to the heart of Beijing to stroll through Dashilan Hutong, known for its rich history, as it is over 500 years old and one of the best places to discover the most traditional culture of the Chinese capital. The architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties is perfectly preserved!
For our last stop, we will head to Fangjia Hutong. As we walk down this alleyway, we will enjoy the mix of old and modern Beijing, with its trendy bars, delicious restaurants, unique hostels, themed shops, and street vendors. There we will also see the typical gray houses, accompanied by centuries-old trees, which remain a living testimony to Beijing's traditional architecture.
At this last stop, we will say goodbye after a 2.5 hour tour.
