The luxury of the Belle Époque and the Roaring Twenties await on our Biarritz Guided Tour. On our tour you'll discover the historic centre of this French city and travel back in time...
Biarritz Guided Tour
Our guided tour through the historic centre of Biarritz will begin in the arcades of the Hotel Mercure Centre, next to the town hall.
Firstly, we'll walk along the Atlantic coast to the Hôtel du Palais. In front of its beautiful façade, we'll learn about the history of the marriage between Eugénie de Montijo and Emperor Napoleon III, who developed this palace-hotel.
We'll then continue our tour along the Grande Beach of Biarritz, which is a popular spot for surfers. At the foot of the beach we'll find the famous Casino Barrière, a symbol of the exclusivity and luxury that has traditionally distinguished this coastal area of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
After learning about how Biarritz became a tourist hotspot for the aristocracy, we'll head towards the St. Eugénie Church, built in honour of Napoleon III's wife.
The next stop on our tour will be the well-known Fishermen's Port. From here, we'll head to the Rocher de la Vierge, a breathtaking rock formation overlooking the sea with a carving of the Virgin Mary. In order to reach this spot, we'll cross a footbridge overlooking the Atlantic, which is the only possible route to access the islet.
We'll then return to the starting point via Les Halles, the lively shopping and dining area of Biarritz.
