Discover why Biarritz has been called the Queen of Resorts and the Resort of Kings as you explore its stunning coastline and magnificent architecture with an exclusive English-speaking guide.
Biarritz Private Tour Itinerary
On the day of your tour, you'll meet your guide near Biarritz City Hall and set off towards the Hôtel du Palais. After a short stroll, you'll reach its impressive façade, where your guide will reveal the fascinating history of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie de Montijo, whose visits to the town developed it from a small whaling village to a fashionable seaside resort.
Wandering along the lively beach promenade of the Grand Plage will bring you to the famous Casino Barrière, one of the best places to witness and understand the elite elegance that has characterised Biarritz over the centuries, one of the favourite holiday destinations of the European aristocracy since the 1800s.
You'll also visit the Church of Saint Eugénie, dedicated to Eugénie of Montijo, where you'll have the opportunity to admire its Neo-Gothic architecture before heading back down to the seafront. Here you'll absorb the atmosphere of the old Port des Pecheurs, or Fishermen's Port, and its charming tiny houses known as "crampottes". Reaching the Rocher de la Vierge, you'll soon see why it's one of the most photographed spots in Biarritz as you admire the rugged rock formation jutting out into the wild Atlantic.
Your private tour of Biarritz will come to an end back at the City Hall, the perfect place for you to enjoy the nearby restaurants, cafes and shops.
