Would you like to experience time travel in the capital of Barbados? On this guided tour of Bridgetown, you'll discover this World Heritage Site.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll start our guided tour of Bridgetown at the Statue of Errol Barrow in Independence Square. Barrow was the first prime minister of Barbados!
From there, and for 2 hours, we'll transport you to the past of the island. You'll hear about the surprising history of the capital of Barbados, which was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2011. It's time to explore the colourful buildings of the city!
We'll walk past the Parliament and learn about its role in the former Commonwealth of Nations. We'll also take a look at the cannons that lie silent among the streets of Bridgetown.
Did you know that the famous singer Rihanna was born and raised in the Barbadian capital? Specifically in Saint Michael. In fact, she grew up in a typical wooden house, which, of course, has become a tourist attraction. So, if you're a big fan of the singer of Umbrella, you'll be able to see her birthplace.
Next, we'll visit the Synagogue and the Cathedral, which, although it was built in 1789 in this location, has its own history. We'll tell you what happened to this monument and when it really came into being. We'll also walk through a secret place...the burial ground.
Before we finish our Bridgetown walking tour, we'll recommend different places for you to continue enjoying this Caribbean destination.
