Day Trip to La Garrotxa
We'll meet at 8:30 am at the arranged meeting point and hop on an air-conditioned bus to start touring the incredible region of La Garrotxa, famous for its volcanic area.
After an hour and a quarter, we'll arrive at Castellfollit de la Roca, a village situated on top of a 50-metre basalt cliff. We'll have about 30 minutes to walk through its streets and discover the fascinating medieval buildings. Did you know it is one of the smallest villages in Spain?
Then we'll head to the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, which is about 25 minutes away. There we'll visit the village of Santa Pau, where we'll feel like we've gone back in time to the Middle Ages. Narrow streets, stone houses and a magical main square are brought together in what feels like something out of a storybook. You'll also have some free time to eat in one of its most typical restaurants.
Last of all, we couldn't end the trip without exploring one of the most impressive natural areas of La Garrotxa: La Fageda d'en Jordà. Did you know that the writer Joan Maragall dedicated a poem to it? We'll get the chance to see this magnificent beech forest for ourselves on a small train or horse and carriage.
By 6:30 pm we'll be back at the meeting point in Calella, where the trip ends.
