Join us to discover the Copper Canyon and the charm of northern Mexico on this 7-day tour. We'll take in mountain scenery, magical towns, and the rich history of the states of Chihuahua and Sinaloa, all while traveling first class aboard the legendary Chepe train!
7-Day Chihuahua to El Fuerte Trip
Day 1: Chihuahua
We'll pick you up when your flight lands at Chihuahua Airport and transfer you to the hotel. In the afternoon, we'll take a guided tour through the city's historic center to see its most iconic spots.
We'll visit Quinta Gameros, one of the finest examples of Art Nouveau style in Mexico. We'll also stop by Chihuahua Cathedral, an 18th-century gem of Novohispanic Baroque architecture, and the Pancho Villa Museum, once home to the leader of the Mexican Revolution. Finally, we'll visit Hidalgo's Dungeon, where Miguel Hidalgo was imprisoned in 1811.
Afterward, we'll take you back to the hotel to rest.
Day 2: Chihuahua – Cuauhtémoc – Basaseachi Waterfall – Creel
After breakfast, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chihuahua with your guide and head to Cuauhtémoc. There, we'll visit the Mennonite Museum and the Casa de las Galletas to learn about the culture and impact of this community in the region.
Next, we'll travel to the national park to admire the Basaseachi Waterfall, Mexico's tallest, plunging over 240 m (787 ft) between rock walls and the forests of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Did you know its Rarámuri name means "place of coyotes"?
In the afternoon, we'll arrive in the Pueblo Mágico of Creel, the gateway to the Copper Canyon. We'll spend the night at the Hacienda Don Armando Boutique & Spa hotel.
Day 3: Creel – Arareco Lake
Day 3! After breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off on an excursion around Creel to admire the unusual rock formations of the Valley of the Mushrooms, the Monks, and the Frogs. We'll visit San Sebastián Cave, the Cusárare Waterfall, and Arareco Lake, where we'll enjoy an outdoor picnic with wine.
You'll have free time in the afternoon, and at the agreed time, we'll meet up for a 3-course gourmet dinner. Finally, we'll rest for the night at our accommodation in Creel.
Day 4: Creel
We'll enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, you'll have a free day in Creel. We recommend walking up into the mountains to watch the morning clouds roll through the valley.
In the afternoon, you'll experience something truly unique: an oxygenating spa ritual. This treatment revitalizes your skin with a dry exfoliation, a deep massage, and intensive nourishment. In the evening, we'll enjoy a dinner of chilaca cream soup, herb-baked fish, and a seasonal fruit mousse.
After the feast, you can head off to rest. See you tomorrow!
Day 5: Copper Canyon – Divisadero
We'll start the day fueling up with breakfast at the hotel. Then, we'll head out to the most breathtaking lookout points of the Copper Canyon. We'll visit Doña Catalina Cave, the Río Oteros lookout, and the San Luis de Majimachi lookout.
We'll arrive at Parque Aventuras Barrancas del Cobre and enjoy a Rarámuri cultural experience in Divisadero.
Afterward, we'll check in to our hotel in Divisadero, where we'll enjoy an included dinner with canyon views.
Day 6: Divisadero – Copper Canyon – El Fuerte
After an early breakfast, we'll board the famous Chepe Express train in first class, heading to El Fuerte in the state of Sinaloa. Along the way, we'll take in spectacular scenery, bridges, and tunnels.
Once in El Fuerte, we'll stroll through the colonial streets of this Pueblo Mágico, steeped in legend and history along the river.
After dinner, we'll spend the night at our assigned hotel in town.
Day 7: El Fuerte – Los Mochis
We'll start our last day with breakfast at the hotel, then take you to Los Mochis Airport with plenty of time to catch your flight home. See you soon!
