Day Trip to Rome for Cruises
Embark on a full-day trip to Rome from the Port of Civitavecchia and take in the splendor of the Eternal City at a much lower price than the tours offered by the cruise lines.
Description
You'll meet your guide in the port of Civitavecchia, specifically from Largo della Pace, and hop on a spacious air-conditioned coach with an English–speaking driver, headed toward Rome. Enjoy the scenic landscape of the province of Rome for a little over an hour until you get to the city center.
The first stop of the day will be near St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, where we'll hop off, and walk through the spectacular square in front of St. Peter's Basilica, the largest Christian church in the world. Inside, there are masterpieces such as Michelangelo's Pieta.
We'll return to the bus and set off on a sightseeing tour of the Castel Sant'Angelo, the Tiber Island, the Pyramid, the Baths of Caracalla, the Circus Maximus, the Palatine, Aventine Hill, and the Arch of Constantine. We'll be able to see these monuments from the vehicle along the tour, which lasts about 40 minutes.
The second stop will be at the Colosseum, where we'll start a walking tour to visit significant places around the building, as well as the Roman Forum and Trajan's Column. Then we'll see Piazza Venezia and the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II.
Leaving Ancient Rome behind, we'll head to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, and the Spanish Steps, all located within walking distance.
In the afternoon, we'll head to the Palace of Justice in Rome, where at 4 pm, we'll return to the port, arriving in plenty of time to board the cruise ship.
