Visit Rome in a Small Group
If you arrive in Civitavecchia on a cruise, you can't miss the opportunity to discover the magic of the Eternal City. And this small group day trip to Rome is the perfect option for it. Do you want to visit the most emblematic places of the Italian capital in a single day? Let's go!
We’ll meet at the "Largo della Pace" terminal 15 minutes before the scheduled time and head to Rome in a minibus, where, thanks to recorded commentary, you'll learn the most important facts about the city.
After a journey of 1 hour and 15 minutes, we'll arrive at Vatican City, the 1st stop of the day. Here, you'll have 1 hour of free time to stroll through St. Peter's Square, the imposing esplanade located in front of St. Peter's Basilica. Designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 17th century, this square is the heart of Christianity.
We'll meet again and take a complete panoramic tour of Rome, a perfect way to admire the banks of the Tiber River, Castel Sant’Angelo, Tiber Island, Circus Maximus, the Palatine and Aventine hills, and the Arch of Constantine. Also, one of the highlights of Rome can't be missed: the Colosseum.
We'll leave you 40 minutes of free time to explore the exterior of the Colosseum. Gladiator fights, life in Ancient Rome, and the events that occurred in this era will leave you completely speechless when you see this monument, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Afterward, we'll continue the tour of Rome by approaching the Mouth of Truth and, to complete the route, we'll take a walking tour where we'll see Piazza Venezia, the Vittorio Emanuele II monument, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon. This last one is one of the best–preserved buildings from Antiquity!
To finish, we'll head to Piazza Navona, where the Fountain of the Four Rivers will be the protagonist of your photographs.
Before returning to the cruise, we'll leave you 1 hour of free time so you can enjoy Italian gastronomy. The pasta and pizza you'll try in Rome won't leave you the same.
With your batteries recharged, we'll take you back to the starting point in Civitavecchia, where we'll finish this 7-hour day trip.
Tour Requirements
You must keep in mind that you won't be able to do the day trip if your cruise leaves Civitavecchia at 5 pm.
