Hike Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel and set off to the picturesque town of Pachar, in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Here, you'll enjoy a delicious American breakfast to start the day with energy.
Then, we'll continue our journey toward the village of Cachiccata, close to Ollantaytambo. From here, we'll start a hike to Inti Punku, the iconic Gate of the Sun in the Sacred Valley. Ready for a unique experience through the Peruvian Andes?
During the climb, which will take us about 2.5 hours, you'll take in spectacular views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the surrounding majestic mountains. The trail, used by the Incas in the past, will tell us about the agricultural terraces, ancient quarries, and the imposing snow-capped Veronica mountain, which seems to guard the road.
Once we reach the summit, 1,279 ft (3,900 m) above sea level, we'll find the stunning stone arch that, according to the Andean tradition, was an astronomical observatory and a ceremonial portal, connecting the terrestrial and celestial worlds. From this privileged spot, you can admire unparalleled scenic views of Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. These views will captivate you!
Here, you'll enjoy a well-deserved rest, where you can explore the area and take pictures of the winding Vilcanota River and the vast Sacred Valley. Plus, we'll offer you a light snack to revitalize as you marvel at the incredible landscapes.
After the rest, we'll begin our descent to Ollantaytambo, one of the most emblematic towns of the Sacred Valley. Along the way, we'll stop at the Incan quarries of Ollantaytambo, where the stone of some of the region's most important temples and walls was extracted and transported with techniques that still amaze archeologists today.
After the visit, we'll return to Urubamba and then to Cusco, where we'll say our goodbyes at your hotel about 8.5 to 10 hours after pickup.
