Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano Day Trip
Take a full-day trip from Florence and discover three of Italy’s most beautiful cities: Pisa and its emblematic Leaning Tower, San Gimignano and its remarkable Medieval Towers, and finally Siena, with its magnificent Cathedral. The excursion also includes an exquisite traditional Italian lunch at a wine estate.
Description
After meeting at the meeting point, we'll leave Florence for Siena. Upon arrival, we'll take a guided tour through the historic center and visit the Piazza del Campo and the Palazzo Comunale. We'll also enter the Cathedral and explore inside. At the end of the walk, you'll have an hour of free time to stroll around, have a coffee, or buy some souvenirs.
The next stop is the Chianti region in central Tuscany, where you’ll stop at a Wine Cellar to have some lunch served with local wine. The menu consists of typical Tuscan products: salami and pecorino cheese for starters, pasta or lasagna as a main dish, and the typical "cantucci biscuits" for dessert. There is also a vegetarian menu available, including vegetable crostini, pasta with tomato, and salad.
After lunch, we'll get back on the bus and climb the hill until we arrive at San Gimignano, Italy’s most beautiful medieval village. Take your time and discover this fascinating area at your own pace strolling along its cobbled streets and squares. San Gimignano’s 14 surviving medieval towers were built by the village’s wealthiest families to demonstrate their power and riches.
Finally, we'll head to Pisa, Galileo's hometown and where he conducted most of his experiments! There you'll have about an hour of free time to discover the monuments of the Piazza dei Miracoli. Here you'll see the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Monumental Cemetery, and, of course, the famous Leaning Tower.
After free time in Pisa, we'll return to Florence, where we'll arrive in Piazzale Montelungo around 8 pm.
