Immerse yourself in Asturian nature with this excursion to Somiedo Natural Park from Gijón. You'll get to see the beautiful Cueva lake and the breathtaking landscapes in this region of Asturias.
Somiedo Natural Park Day Trip
We'll meet at the Gota de Leche building at the selected time and set off on a 1 hour and a half journey to the Somiedo Natural Park. Get ready to see some of the most beautiful landscapes in Spain!
Our first stop will Santa María del Puerto de Somiedo. Did you know that it received the Exemplary Village of Asturias award in 2021? The Natural Park of Somiedo is one of the most important and best-preserved protected areas in Asturias.
The tour will continue to La Peral, a village where farmers lived with their cattle for a few months every year. Its fields are full of traditional huts with a braña roof that have stood the test of time. We'll also visit Pola de Somiedo, a village featured in the book Viaje por España en la época de Carlos III (Journey through Spain in the times of Charles III), by the English scholar Joseph Townsend. We'll also visit the Somiedo Natural Park Interpretation Centre while we're in this picturesque municipality.
The journey will then take us across the Asturian countryside until we reach the Farrapona peak, where we'll go on a hike to get to discover the park's plants and wildlife. What's more, throughout the whole route, the guide will tell us all about Somiedo.
After a pleasant hike through the park, we'll arrive at Cueva lake, a breathtaking sight you'll never forget! Later, we'll visit the Ecomuseum of Somiedo, which is the perfect place to learn about the life and rural essence of this area.
At the end of the trip, we'll return to Gijón, arriving 10 hours after the starting time.
