Seville Day Trip Itinerary
Begin your day trip being picked up from your hotel in Huelva, before heading to Seville, the capital of Andalusia and the birthplace of Spanish legends such as Velazquez, Machado and Becquer. Your panoramic tour of the city will first take you to the elaborate places constructed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Visit the Parque de María Luisa, a beautiful park on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and the Plaza de España, a square of diverse architectural styles which has become a beloved symbol of the city.
Follow your guide next to the Santa Cruz district, which was the Jewish Quarter in the Middle Ages. Explore its picturesque narrow winding streets and admire the typical Sevillan courtyard-houses. As you stroll through the historic centre, you'll pass by the Alcazar of Seville, a fortified royal palace that dates back to Muslim Spain, and which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Discover the Archivo General de Indias: this Renaissance-style building was originally the merchants' exchange, but today houses important information about the Spanish colonial history of the Americas and the Philippines. Next, enjoy a guided tour of the Seville Cathedral, the largest of its kind in the world. Hear all about the history of the building and the Islamic origins of its minaret, an exquisite bell tower known as La Giralda. The magnificent cathedral is also home to the tombs of Christopher Columbus and a number of Kings of Castile.
You'll then have free time to eat and explore Seville's historic centre at your own pace. You may decide to take a horse and carriage ride through the parks, or cruise down the river on a boat trip.
At the end of the excursion, you'll be taken back to Huelva and dropped off at your hotel.
