Istanbul Carpet Weaving Workshop
Activity Details
We’ll meet at a cozy carpet weaving studio located in Anabala Pasajı, right in the center of Istanbul, and just a short walk from Taksim Square.
After a warm welcome, you’ll enjoy a cup of Turkish tea or coffee while we introduce you to the rich tradition of Turkish carpets, their intricate patterns, and the symbolism behind their colors.
Then it’s time to get started. With guidance from a skilled artisan, you’ll learn the traditional double knot technique used in authentic carpet making. Each participant will sit at their own individual loom and begin weaving a small personalized rug using colorful wool threads.
As you work, your instructor will share stories about Istanbul and Turkish culture. You’ll also be treated to fruit, snacks, and drinks during the session. Once you’ve finished your design, we’ll carefully frame your piece so you can take it home as a meaningful handmade souvenir.
Before saying goodbye, we’ll take a few group photos to remember the experience. The workshop lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
