Its many Biblical references have made the Mount of Olives one of the most symbolic places in Jerusalem. Get to know its fascinating history on this English language guided walking tour.
Meet next to the ancient Jaffa Gate in the historic heart of Jerusalem's Old Town.
The first stop on your walking tour will be the legendary Gardens of Gethsemane. This, according to the new Testament, is the place where Jesus prayed before being arrested by the Roman authorities of Judea. In this symbolic place, you'll visit the Basilica of the Agony - learn why it's also known as the Church of All Nations.
Not far from here, you'll see another sacred site for Eastern Christian believers: the tomb of the Virgin Mary. According to Orthodox tradition, this is the burial place of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Catholics, however, believe Mary ascended directly to heaven.
After exploring more of the holy sites around the Mount of Olives, you'll climb to its peak where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views across Jerusalem. During your walk up the hill, your guide will explain more of the history of this important religious site where, according to scripture, Jesus prayed frequently.
Your tour will end returning to the original meeting point.
