Day 1: Johannesburg - Hazyview
Welcome to South Africa! We'll pick you up at Johannesburg Airport or your hotel and head northeast.
After about four hours on the road, we'll arrive at a lodge in Hazyview. Drop off your bags, grab a light lunch, and rest a bit in your room if you'd like.
As the sun sets, we'll head into the most popular wilderness area in South Africa to catch a breathtaking sunset over Kruger National Park. Afterwards, we'll head back to the lodge for dinner and to sleep.
Day 2: Hazyview - Kruger Park - Hazyview
Get ready for an early start as we set out on an unforgettable sunrise safari through Kruger National Park. In the early morning light, our goal is to spot lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, and elephants—the famous Big Five of the African savannah!
After about three hours, we'll wrap up the tour in a park area to rest and enjoy a picnic breakfast provided by our lodge. Energized, our safari continues through Kruger Park, where we'll take in the rivers and vast plains of this incredible protected area.
Our Kruger exploration ends at another park rest area, giving you time to enjoy lunch on your own. Later, we'll head back to the lodge, and you'll have the rest of the afternoon to relax by the swimming pool and make the most of the facilities. Dinner is included at the lodge.
Day 3: Hazyview - Drakensberg Mountains - Hazyview
We'll start the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before embarking on an exciting tour through the stunning Drakensberg Mountains. Our first stop is the famous God's Window viewpoint. On a clear day, you might catch a glimpse of the breathtaking Kruger Park scenery from this famous lookout.
After soaking in the panoramic views, we'll head to Bourke's Luck Potholes Gorge in the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, the third-largest canyon in the world, known for its awe-inspiring beauty.
Our Drakensberg adventure continues to the Lisbon Falls, the region's most famous waterfalls. From there, we'll drive to Graskop, a charming nearby town where you can shop and enjoy lunch at your leisure.
Post-lunch, we'll return to the lodge, giving you the rest of the afternoon to unwind and make the most of the facilities. A delicious dinner is also on the agenda.
Day 4: Hazyview - Kruger Park - Hazyview
After another hearty breakfast at the hotel, we're off on a new safari through Kruger National Park, hoping to spot species we might have missed in the previous days.
By midday, we'll return to the lodge for a light lunch. The afternoon is yours to enjoy until dinner, which is included on this fourth day.
Day 5: Hazyview - Kruger Park - Hazyview - Johannesburg
Rise and shine early to bid farewell to the African savannah with another sunrise safari in Kruger Park. Dawn is the ideal time to catch a glimpse of different species, including the elusive leopards.
After this final Kruger safari, we'll have a picnic breakfast at one of the park's rest areas before returning to the lodge to pick up our luggage. Finally, we'll head back to Johannesburg Airport, dropping you off between 5 pm and 6 pm. Safe travels!
Accommodation
This safari includes four nights of accommodation with breakfast at the Umbhaba Eco Lodge (3-star) or a similar hotel. Please note that the prices indicated are per person staying in a double room.
Flight and Transfer Details
When arranging your outbound flight to South Africa, please keep in mind that on the first day, our pickup from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport will occur at the Shuttle and Bus Terminal in the arrivals area, scheduled between 6:30 am and 7 am. The departure to Hazyview is set for 7:15 am.
To ensure a smooth start to your safari, please make sure that your flight to South Africa arrives no later than 5 am. For added convenience and to avoid unforeseen circumstances, we recommend staying in a hotel in Johannesburg the night before the safari, with accommodation expenses at your own cost.
Alternatively, on the safari day, we offer pick-ups between 6:30 am and 6:45 am from hotels and lodges within a 5 km (3 mi) radius of Johannesburg airport.
On the last day, we plan to arrive in Johannesburg between 5:30 pm and 6 pm. Upon reaching the city, we can drop you off at the airport or a hotel or lodge within a 5 km (3 mi) radius of the terminal. If you have a flight from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last safari day, please don't schedule any domestic flights before 8 pm or international flights before 9 pm.
