After picking you up from your hotels at 8 am, we'll drive to the Cullinan Diamond Mine. The drive will take approximately 1 hour.
Upon arrival, you'll be taken on a guided tour of the surface of this 100 year old mine. As we contemplate its excavations, you'll be struck by the large shaft in the middle of the earth, which is more than 1000 metres deep!
For about 2 hours, you'll discover everything about the formation of diamonds, from their birth to their cutting into jewels.
This mine became famous after the discovery of the great Cullinan diamond, nicknamed the Star of the South. How much did it weigh? Is it true that it broke into hundreds of pieces? What role does it play in the coronations of the British monarchy? These and many other questions will be answered on this tour.
After the visit to the diamond mine, we'll get back on the bus and drive to the village of Cullinan. We'll walk through the streets of this small town, past St. George's Church and its brownstone houses.
The tour will end at 3 pm when we arrive back at the hotels after visiting one of South Africa's great tourist attractions.
