Lake Titicaca 2-Day Tour

Day 1: Juliaca - Uros Islands - Amantani

Between 5:15 am and 6:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Juliaca and go by minibus to Puno, where we'll change transport to board a boat that will take us across Lake Titicaca.

We'll first visit two of the Uros islands, small artificial islets made of aquatic plants. We'll learn all about the beliefs of the local people and their traditional way of life. Did you know that Uros means 'water men'? We'll reveal this and many other interesting facts.

Back on the boat we'll head to the island of Amantani, the largest island in the Peruvian part of Lake Titicaca. We'll leave our luggage and have lunch at the home of a local family to see first-hand the hospitality of the Quechua people. Lunch includes two courses and a soft drink.

With our batteries recharged we'll go on a one-hour hike to visit the Pachamama or Pachatata hills. We'll take advantage of the hike to learn some historical facts about Amantani, inhabited since pre-Inca times, and you'll be able to take hundreds of photos of the agricultural terraces of the island. We'll visit the temples that sit on these hills and enjoy an unforgettable sunset.

In the evening, we'll have dinner and rest until the next day in the house of a local family.

Day 2: Amantani - Taquile - Juliaca

Good morning! We'll have breakfast including coffee or tea, fruits and breads and we'll say goodbye to the island family to board a boat at 8:00 am. Our next destination will be the island of Taquile, also in Lake Titicaca.

We'll spend four hours visiting Taquile. We'll visit the handicraft market, learn about the famous textile art made by the men of the island and walk along trails that will lead us to incredible viewpoints. You'll be fascinated!

Before returning to the boat, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch consisting of two courses and a soft drink. Once we have regained our strength, it'll be time to say goodbye.

We'll finish the excursion at 4 pm at your hotel in Juliaca.

Accommodation

The tour includes one night's accommodation in a home stay with a local family on the island of Amantani. During the tour you'll have two lunches, one dinner and one breakfast included.

Tour ending in Puno

Would you like to finish the tour in Puno? If you prefer, instead of taking you back to Juliaca, we can end the tour in Puno. We will drop you off at any central location or hotel of your choice.
