We'll pick you up at your hotel in Kochi at the designated time to head to the St. Francis Church, one of the oldest European churches in India. We'll walk among its simple, yet majestic white walls as we relive the days when the European explorers arrived. You'll learn all about its incredible historical significance and find out which famous Portuguese explorer was buried here before he was sent to Lisbon.
Then, we'll head to the Matancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace. Despite its name, it was built by Portuguese settlers in 1557 as a gift to Raja, King of Cochin. You'll admire its chambers, full of traditional items. Its luxurious decoration will leave you speechless!
In the vicinity of the palace, you'll also see the Pardesi Synagogue, located in what's locally known as Jew Town. We'll stroll trhough this Jewish neighborhood among stores of all types, from antique shops to spice auctions, a very typical thing in India.
Lastly, we'll head to the pier to see the famous Chinese fishing nets, a large wooden structure installed by Chinese vendors in the 14th century. You'll see how the fishermen raise them with precision. It's an ancestral technique that continue to set the pace of daily life in Cochin!
Finally, we'll returning to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes after 5 to 6 hours.
