Auschwitz Day Trip
Set off on a half-day trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau from Krakow and discover the hair-raising events that took place in this Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Over one million people were killed in Auschwitz with the Nazi’s Final Solution to the Jewish Question.
Auschwitz Day Trip
Board a comfortable air-conditioned coach from the historic centre of Kraków and sit back while you head west to Oświęcim (Auschwitz in German).
Auschwitz-Birkenau is made up of several camps, of which the two most important are Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Once you get to the destination, you will first explore Auschwitz I, initially built to house political prisoners. Follow your local English-speaking guide into the various blocks to discover the permanent exhibitions explaining the atrocities committed in this site.
Next, head to the only remaining gas chambers and crematoriums, which weren’t destroyed by the Nazis before their hasty departure. During the whole visit, your guide will explain the building’s history in a delicate manner.
After a short break, drive to the second camp: Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Auschwitz II-Birkenau was built in 1941 as an extermination camp where approximately 1.3 million people were sent during the following years. Your guide will lead you through the barracks, the latrines, the train tracks, the deposit of ashes, the remains of the crematoriums and gas chambers which were demolished by the German troops before leaving to hide the evidence.
After visiting both camps, you will head back to Krakow.
