The British Music Experience

From The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Amy Winehouse and Adele, the British Music Experience houses an unparalleled collection of memorabilia, costumes, instruments, photographs, and audiovisual material. The museum traces the origins, rise, and influence of British pop music from 1945 to the present day.

Among its most notable pieces are outfits worn by artists such as Freddie Mercury, Dusty Springfield, Adam Ant, the Spice Girls, and Mick Jagger, as well as instruments played by some of the world’s most renowned musicians, from Roger Taylor (Queen) to members of the Sex Pistols and Ian Curtis.

The museum features galleries, interactive areas, audiovisual experiences, and holographic zones:

Interactive Studio

You can try out real guitars, drum sets, and keyboards. This space will allow you to discover the sounds that have shaped British music over the decades.

Boy George Hologram

The installation captures his unmistakable voice, presence, and influence, offering a unique experience alongside one of British pop’s most recognizable icons.

Dance the Decades

Hit the dance floor and enjoy the sounds that defined each generation of British music. From the early days of rock and roll to contemporary pop, Dance the Decades invites you to discover how styles, rhythms, and audiences have evolved over time.

Anatomy of a Pop Star

This room will show you how artists develop distinctive identities and how music, fashion, and culture combine to shape public figures throughout the different eras of British music.

Hey DJ

You’ll discover how DJs shape the sound and atmosphere of British music culture. You’ll learn how to select, mix, and layer songs to create energy on the dance floor.

Vocal Booth

You’ll experience performing in a setting similar to a recording studio.

Where It's At

This section shows how cities, concert venues, and communities helped define unique sounds and musical trends, from local phenomena to global influences.

Star Café and Gift Shop

The Star Café offers a delicious selection of Illy coffees, specialty teas, cold drinks, and light bites.

The Gift Shop is open daily and features a wide range of band T-shirts, books, vinyl records, and collectibles, as well as merchandise related to all current and past temporary exhibitions.

  • From December 21 to 26: closed
