What to Expect
Popularly known as "The Cube" Malaga's branch of the famous Parisian art gallery and cultural center can be found in the lively port area of the Mediterranean city. Its permanent exhibition contains more than 90 works from the 20th and 21st centuries, becoming a cultural reference point for the city.
Inaugurated in 2015, the museum today holds an important collection of modern and contemporary art, including "El marco" by Frida Khalo, "El Sombrero de Flores" by Picasso (himself from Malaga), and Self Portrait by the famous portraitist Francis Bacon.
The museum's permanent exhibition also contains works by artists as famous as Brâncuçi and Alberto Giacometti. And more than just visual arts, the Malaga Pompidou has different programmes dedicated to dance, the spoken word, and cinema: a true 360 degree cultural experience.
