The first stop on the tour is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, the symbol of Maratea, located on the top of Mount San Biagio. Made by the Florentine artist Bruno Innocenti between 1963 and 1965, this colossal sculpture was created in white cement and Carrara marble. Did you know that it is 21 metres high? During the tour, you'll see it in all its splendour!
Not far from the famous statue, you'll find another emblematic location, the Basilica of San Biagio, where the relics of the city's patron saint are kept. Inside the temple, you'll see the 15th-century fresco of the Madonna del Melograno, the marble tabernacle, dated 1519, and the ancient stone baptismal font from the 15th-16th century.
Finally, you'll visit the medieval village, walking along its narrow streets and observing the historical buildings of Maratea.
