Explore the baroque and neoclassical squares and corners of the Sicilian port city on two wheels with this segway tour of Messina.

Segway Tour of Messina

At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani Church, where we'll start our segway tour around Messina, located in the north-east of Sicily.

First, we'll take via Castello a mare, also known as Castellamare, to reach Piazza Cairoli, one of the most commercial areas of Messina. From here we'll continue along Piazza Pugliatti, where we'll see the courthouse and the university.

The next stop on our segway tour will be Piazza Duomo, where some of the city's most emblematic monuments are located, including the Orion fountain, the Cathedral and its clock tower. Did you know that its bronze statues move when the astronomical clock strikes the hour?

We'll ride the segways past baroque fountains and neoclassical churches to reach the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III, one of the most atmospheric places in Messina. Then, we'll go up to the Church of Montalto, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Sicilian city.

On the way back down, we'll pass by the medieval Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the baroque Palace of Monte di Pietà, which was damaged during the 1908 earthquake that devastated the city. Afterwards, we'll ride the segways to Piazza Unità d'Italia, where the Government Palace and the fountain of Neptune, by the Florentine sculptor Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli, are located.

From here we'll go to Piazza Municipio to admire the statue of Ferdinand of Bourbon and the Vittorio Emanuele II theatre. Finally, after leaving the monument to Don John of Austria located in Via Lepanto, we'll return to the meeting point to conclude this three-hour tour.
