Get to know the history of the Mexican capital and its religious fervour on this tour of 3 of the icons of local culture: the archaeological areas of Teotihuacán, the Basilica of Guadalupe and Tlatelolco.
Day Trip Details
We'll meet at the meeting point in Mexico City to begin this 8.5-hour tour, during which we'll visit three of the must-see attractions on any trip to the Mexican capital.
Our first stop will be Tlatelolco, the archaeological site famous for having formed part of the capital of the Aztec empire.
We'll visit the Plaza de Tres Culturas, where prehispanic and colonial influences are combined with the modern architecture characteristic of the Mexican capital. We'll be able to admire the remains of the Aztec pyramids, the viceroy's convent and contemporary buildings.
We'll then hit the road northwards until we arrive at the feet of the Tepeyac Hill, where we'll find the Villa Guadalupe, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world.
Here, we'll visit the inside of the current Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe, built in honour of the patron saint of Latin America, as well as the old basilica that serves as an expiatory temple to Cristo Rey. We'll spend approximately 1.5 hours visiting these temples.
We'll continue our tour by visiting Teotihuacán: Mexico's most visited archaeological site.
On the way, we'll make a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we'll pass through the Road of the Dead to discover the secrets of the City of the Gods.
Our tour will then take us up to the Quetzalpápalotl Palace and Quetzalcóatl Temple, and you'll have some free time if you'd like to wander around this sacred site on your own.
The tour then finishes back at the starting point in Mexico City.
Pickup Points
During the booking process, you must select one of the following pickup points in Mexico City:
- Calle Isabel La Católica, 61-A: at 7:30 pm
- Miga Cafe: at 8:20 am and at 10 am
Even if only one schedule is shown when making your booking, you must be at your chosen meeting point at the scheduled time.
Day Trip With Lunch
During the booking process, you can choose the tour that includes lunch. With this option, you'll enjoy an even more complete experience! During the booking process, you can choose the option that includes a full Mexican buffet lunch. In this case, you'll follow the described itinerary and enjoy a Mexican buffet lunch or a delicious barbecue.
If you choose the buffet-style lunch, the meal will take place in the restaurant in Teotihuacán. If you choose the barbecue-style lunch, the meal will take place in the "toltekani" artisanal store and will include a traditional barbecue and Mexican drinks, with pulque, tequila, and different artisanal liquers.
Day Trip With Pickup
In this option, at the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Mexico City, and once we're ready, we'll begin the itinerary previously described. After the day trip, we'll drop you off at your hotel.
Please note that this option includes pickup at hotels in the areas of Polanco, Reforma, Roma-Condesa and the Historic Center. If you're staying in other areas, we'll pick you up at Sanborns Café (Av. Juárez, 14, Colonia centro).
