Hovercraft Trip in Barataria Preserve
Prepare to meet the colorful creatures of the bayou, such as ospreys, pelicans, frogs, turtles, owls, and snakes. We'll meet up at your chosen time on Barataria Boulevard, where we board the airboat and head out on a tour of the swamps of the Barataria Preserve.
We'll sail through the waters of these marshes, which form part of the Jean Lafitte National Park, discovering this unique ecosystem along the way.
The hovercraft makes our tour a true adventure, as we reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. We'll also slow down in certain places so you can capture the amazing scenery on your camera. The airboat will also take us to hidden corners of the reserve that are not accessible in more traditional types of vessels. This is an experience you'll never forget!
During the journey, the captain will tell you about the local way of life and culture. You'll also find out how the fishermen manage to survive in this land of hungry alligators.
Finally, we'll finish the tour an hour and 40 minutes after the start of the adventure.
Capacity of the Airboats
There are two types of airboat for this activity: a standard one with a capacity of up to 16 people or one that can accommodate up to 9 people. You'll share the trip with other travelers, but the route and commentary will be more personalized in the small group option.
Minimum Height
Children under 17 years of age may participate in the activity as long as they are over 4 feet (122 centimeters) tall. Children under this height will unfortunately not be allowed on the airboat.
Hotel pickup
If you prefer, you can also book a collection service from your hotel. We'll pick you up one and a half hours before the start of the boat ride and once the activity is over, we'll take you back to your accommodation in New Orleans.
