Day 1: Furnas & Tea Plantations (8 Hours)
At the indicated time, we'll meet on João Bosco Mota Amaral Avenue in Ponta Delgada to set off by minibus to the charming town of Vila Franca do Campo. After strolling through its picturesque streets and admiring the view of the volcanic islet off the coast, we'll return to the minibus for the drive to Furnas.
Volcanic calderas, fumaroles, and a mesmerizing lagoon await us in Furnas. We'll talk all about the island's volcanic landscapes as we explore the area, before taking a break to eat a delicious cozido à portuguesa, one of the most typical dishes of São Miguel. In addition, in Furnas you can opt to visit the botanical gardens at your own pace.
The last stop of the day will be at the Gorreana tea plantations. We'll visit the plantations and taste one of their famous infusions to appreciate its aromas and flavours. The tour will end at about 4:30 pm.
Day 2: Sete Cidades & Lagoa do Fogo (8 Hours)
We'll pick you up again at the meeting point and visit the centre of São Miguel Island to admire the Lagoa do Fogo. We'll discover how this volcanic lake was formed and explore the surrounding area to admire its flora and fauna. You'll love it!
The rest of the day will be spent visiting the viewpoints surrounding Lagoa das Sete Cidades, the most famous spring in this corner of the Azores. We'll cross its bridge while we reveal interesting facts about this natural spot.
Before we take you back to your accommodation, we'll enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant. Finally, we'll finish the excursion as we drop you back at the starting point at 4:30 pm.
