Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in Ponta Delgada in an off-roading vehicle and head west across the island.
After a 30-minute drive, we’ll arrive at our first stop: the Vista del Rey viewpoint. From here, we’ll admire the impressive volcanic caldera and its lagoons. We’ll then descend to Lagoa das Sete Cidades, where we’ll get a close-up view of this lake landscape shaped by volcanic activity, and stroll through the village of the same name, where the picturesque Igreja de São Nicolau stands out with its elegant neo-Gothic façade.
We’ll continue the off-roading tour past the Muro das Nove Janelas, an ancient aqueduct that highlights the historical importance of water supply on the island. Next, we’ll reach Capelas, where we’ll enjoy views of the coastline and the basalt flows that define this Atlantic coast.
We’ll also stop at Mulher do Capote, a traditional distillery perfect for discovering typical Azorean liqueurs. Of course, you’ll be able to sample these delicacies on your own at this spot. A must-try experience!
When it’s time for lunch, we'll stop so you can eat in the area. After recharging, we'll head to Ribeira Grande, one of the most important historic towns in the north of São Miguel. From there, we'll continue east to the Salto do Cabrito waterfall, hidden among lush vegetation, showcasing the island’s humid and rugged interior.
Finally, we’ll arrive at Lagoa do Fogo, one of the most iconic and best-preserved lakes in the Azores. Here, we’ll have the privilege of seeing a nearly untouched volcanic landscape. We’ll finish at the Pico da Barrosa viewpoint, where we’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding slopes. Did you know that Lagoa do Fogo is located in a nature reserve and is one of São Miguel’s most iconic landmarks?
We’ll conclude the tour by dropping you off at your hotel after 7 hours of activity.
