Activity Details

After meeting at the Monumento ao Rei Pedro V in Praça da Batalha, we'll board a vehicle and head south from Porto on a 2-hour journey.

As we leave the city behind, the landscape will transform into a panorama of gentle hills, whitewashed villages, and olive groves. Our destination? Fátima, one of the most celebrated Marian shrines in the world.

On arrival, we'll spend around 45 minutes exploring the Chapel of the Apparitions, the iconic Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary with its 15 chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the rosary, and the modern Temple of the Holy Trinity, one of the largest churches in Europe. You'll then have an hour of free time to explore at your own pace.

We'll then make a 45-minute journey to Nazaré, world-famous for the giant waves that attract the world's most daring surfers. On arrival, we'll take a guided tour of the Sítio neighborhood, where we'll look out over the cliffs to take in the Nazaré Lighthouse and the Nazaré Canyon, the geological phenomenon responsible for the enormous walls of water that form at Praia do Norte.

During the tour, we'll also visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré, one of the oldest religious sites in Portugal, discovering the story of the venerated Marian image it houses and the legend of the miracle of Dom Fuas Roupinho. After the guided visit, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to enjoy the local cuisine and have lunch by the sea.

Refreshed and refueled, we'll set off on a 1-hour 45-minute drive to the Church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo in Válega, Ovar. We'll make a 30-minute stop to admire its facade covered in polychrome azulejo tiles, depicting biblical scenes in shades of blue, yellow, and green: the Annunciation, the Coronation of the Virgin, and the Last Supper, forming an unforgettable mosaic of light and color.

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes back at the original meeting point in Porto, 11.5 hours after setting off.
