Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park Hike
Explore a magical landscape and discover the indigenous legends that are told about it with this hiking route through the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.
Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park Hike
After picking you up at 9 am from your hotel in Puebla, we'll head towards the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park. On the way, we'll pass through the famous Paso de Cortés until we reach the parking lot La Joyita, where we'll begin a fascinating hiking route.
We'll walk along the famous path called Ruta de los Portillos, 4 kilometers that combine icy landscapes with completely deserted areas. At certain points along the route, you'll take in stunning views of the park's two volcanoes: Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl, all while learning about the legend of the volcanoes and the servants of Tláloc.
We're also likely to see examples of local wildlife such as coyotes, badgers, lizards and deer hidden among the coniferous forests - a truly unique experience! If you're into mycology, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for some of the dozens of species of fungi found in the park.
After four hours of hiking and exploring, we'll head back to the main parking lot and return to your hotel in Puebla, arriving around 5 pm.
