Tambopata Parrot Clay Lick Tour: 5 Days
From the Puerto Maldonado airport, we'll make our way to the town's river port to begin the canoe ride along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. During the trip, we'll enjoy a picnic on board and admire the local fauna including turtles, birds, and other exotic animals.
Then we'll head to our accommodation in the Tambopata jungle, where we'll be greeted with a welcome drink. Later, we'll meet up for an evening walk, where you can spot the many animals that hide in the jungle as night falls.
The day will end returning to the hotel for dinner and rest.
At dawn, we'll have breakfast and start a canoe trip on the Tambopata River. During this three-hour route, we'll navigate to the famous Tambopata parrot clay lick, a 300-metre-long cliff where numerous colonies of parrots and macaws can be found.
After admiring these exotic birds, we'll enjoy a picnic in the middle of nature and return to the hotel.
After breakfast, we'll sail by canoe to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. You'll be surprised by the striking colours of these exotic birds!
Once you've taken a photo of the macaws, we'll return to the hotel for lunch and you'll have the afternoon free. In the evening, we'll meet up to listen to a talk about the native caimans. Afterwards, we'll enjoy an evening canoe ride to spot these large reptiles.
The day will end back at the hotel to have dinner and rest.
Once we've had breakfast at the hotel, we'll sail to the Tres Chimbadas lake, where we'll see various native animals including monkeys and Amazonian butterflies.
At midday, we'll return to the hotel to enjoy a delicious lunch, before spending the afternoon resting. Those who wish can also accompany us to the highest bird watching tower in the Amazon - no less than 46 meters (150 feet) tall!
Later in the evening, we'll meet back up for a short trekking route to enjoy the sunset over the Tambopata jungle. The day will end with dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll take you to the Puerto Maldonado airport leaving you with plenty of time to catch your flight.
