First, we’ll head to the historic center of Puerto Plata to get a close look at its colonial-style buildings. We’ll stroll down Calle de las Sombrillas, a place that reflects the city’s creativity and artistic spirit. You can pop into one of the many craft shops and pick up a souvenir. Next, we’ll venture down Pink Street, a picturesque spot that’s sure to leave an impression.

Next stop? We’ll visit a chocolate factory, the perfect way to learn all about the process of making Dominican chocolate. Your 5 senses will be on high alert as you watch how the cocoa bean is transformed into a delicious product that, of course, we’ll get to taste.

With that sweet aftertaste, we’ll walk to Puerto Plata’s Central Park, the heart of the city. Here we’ll find historic buildings such as the Cathedral of San Felipe, the House of Culture, and City Hall. In addition to learning about local life, we’ll sample the famous Mamajuana, a traditional Dominican drink made with rum, red wine, honey, and various herbs.

The private tour will continue to a small amber mine and the Larimar Museum, a blue gemstone found only in this country. We’ll explore its origins, the mining process, and its cultural significance.

Later, if you’d like, we can visit a cigar factory, where we’ll watch skilled artisans hand-roll these cigars. It’s a method passed down from generation to generation! We’ll also head to the Malecón and the San Felipe Fortress, two must-see sights in Puerto Plata that no one should miss.

After this tour, we’ll recharge our batteries at a restaurant while enjoying a typical Dominican meal. With our batteries recharged, it’s time to relax. To do so, we’ll take you to a beach where you can swim in its crystal-clear waters, sunbathe on its fine sand, and, as the perfect finishing touch, toast with a piña colada.

Finally, after a comprehensive 5-hour private tour of Puerto Plata, we’ll take you back to the cruise terminal, where the tour will come to an end.
