Magdalena Island Day Trip
Activity Details
The Magellanic penguin colony is one of the main attractions in Chilean Patagonia. If you're in Punta Arenas, you won't want to miss it! At the stated time, we’ll meet at the Tres Puentes pier and, once everyone is ready, we’ll board a ferry that’ll take us to Magdalena Island.
During 1 hour of sailing, we'll enjoy incredible views of the Strait of Magellan, the meeting point between the icy waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. We'll also spot the Brunswick Peninsula and the glacial landscapes of Tierra del Fuego.
When we arrive at Magdalena Island, a site declared a Natural Monument, you'll disembark to visit one of the most special places in Chile. Its large colony of Magellanic penguins is the main attraction, as thousands of birds live on the island in their natural habitat. You’ll be able to witness their unique movements!
You'll also have time to walk along the paths of Magdalena Island and visit the lighthouse, inaugurated in 1902 and used by the government to guide sailors crossing the Strait of Magellan. It’s a strategic point you'll get to explore.
Finally, it’ll be time to board the ferry again and return to the starting point in Punta Arenas, where we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 5 hours of touring.
