Pass through the Santo Domingo colonial area on this tour, where you'll discover the legacy of the Columbus family and the main monuments of the oldest city in America.

Day Trip Details

On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Punta Cana and set off for Santo Domingo.

Firstly, we'll visit the spectacular Los Tres Ojos grotto to see the famous freshwater lakes and their spectacular cave. Then we'll see the outside of the Columbus Lighthouse, where the explorer's remains are said to be located.

Next, we'll make a stop outside the Presidential Palace. We'll observe the stunning exterior of this large-scale neoclassical architectural ensemble before continuing our tour through the historic center of the city, Santo Domingo's beautiful Ciudad Colonial!

We'll enter the temple of Santa María de La Encarnación, the Cathedral Primada de America and the oldest on the continent, to discover the secrets it hides. Afterwards, we'll travel back in time as we stroll along the Calle de las Damas, where we'll see the first stone house built in the New World. Next, we'll visit the inside of the National Pantheon, where the remains of illustrious historical figures of the Dominican Republic are laid to rest.

Next, we'll continue walking through the Plaza de España to see its beautiful terraces, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Ozama River. On this esplanade stands the famous Alcázar de Colón, the Admiral's former residence. Make sure to snap some photos as we visit its interior!

Afterwards, we'll go to a restaurant in the historic centre, where we'll replenish our energy with a delicious buffet lunch with typical dishes such as rice, meat stew and beans. The menu also includes non-alcoholic drinks. Feeling refuelled, we'll head towards the Malecón area to enjoy a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea.

Finally, we'll take you back to your hotel, where you are expected to arrive between 9 and 11.5 hours after pickup.

Hotel Pickup

Pickup starts at the first hotel of the route at 7:30 am, so you can have breakfast at your hotel. However, the exact pickup time for each hotel will be established in advance, except for the following:

Hotel Cortecito Inn and Punta Cana Princess: pickup will be at 7:20 am
