Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Queenstown to set off on our trip to the Milford Sound Fjord. Once onboard the minibus, we'll head to the west coast of New Zealand.
As we leave Queenstown, we'll drive along the beautiful Wakatipu Lake, admiring the impressive views as we make our way on, with The Remarkables mountain range in the background.
While we continue on our three-and-a-half-hour drive, we'll be treated to fantastic views of the surrounding forests, small towns, rivers, and springs like the magnificent Lake Te Anau, the second largest in New Zealand. Of course, we'll also make several stops to admire the surroundings of Mirror Lake, Eglinton Valley, Monkey Creek, and much more. You'll see that these landscapes are worthy of The Lord of the Rings.
Once we start arriving at Milford Sound, we'll come across Gunn Lake with Hollyford River and Falls Creek nearby. Finally, as we come to Milford Sound, we'll board the boat that will sail us on a cruise along the fjord. Did you know it's a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site? Before boarding the boat, we'll provide you with a picnic lunch, so that you can enjoy it at the time that suits you best.
For two hours, we'll marvel at cascading waterfalls, lush vegetation, and towering mountains. Don't forget to look out for Mitre Peak, the most iconic mountain peak of Milford Sound. We'll also come across native birds, sea lions and, hopefully, some dolphins.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to the Queenstown hotels, arriving around 13 hours after pickup.
