Explore markets, palaces, museums and forts on this tour of Riyadh. We'll visit the Saudi Arabian capital and learn about its history and emblematic monuments.
When reserving, there are two different itineraries. Both start at the same time with pickup from your hotel in Riyadh and will end at the same place.
Do you want to discover the old centre of Riyadh? We'll start by heading to the Dirah market, famous for selling rugs and Saudi antiques. We'll also smell the scent of sandalwood and other spices that fill the airs of this market.
After, we'll go to the Masmak palace, whose origins date back to the 14th century. We'll uncover the history of this fortress, a crucial place for understanding the foundations of the Saudi Arabian Kingdom. Here, we'll talk about important individuals, such as Abdullah bin Rashid and Abdulaziz ibn Saúd and we'll learn why they were so important in the constitution of the country that we know today. You won't stop learning new things!
If you opt for this longer tour, we'll start by visiting the Nation Museum of Saudi Arabia. We'll find a large display of statues, manuscripts and sculptures that are a true reflection of the history of the Arabian peninsula.
The second stop of the day will be the Murabba Palace, a royal residence constructed under the orders of Abdulaziz bin Saúd, the first king of Saudi Arabia. We'll access a collection of various personal objects belonging to the monarch which I'm sure will surprise you.
Feeling hungry yet? We'll fill our stomachs will a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we'll visit two markets and the Masmak palace before heading towards the famous skyscraper known as the Kingdom Centre. We'll climb almost 300 metres (1000 feet) to enjoy the unforgettable panoramic views of Riyadh before heading back to the hotel.
