On this tour of Ushaiqer we'll visit one of the oldest villages in Saudi Arabia and travel through the desert to discover an authentic oasis full of history.
Ushaiqer Village Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Riyadh and head northwest to Ushaiqer, one of the oldest villages in the region. Are you ready to experience the true culture of Saudi Arabia?
After approximately two hours of driving, we'll reach Ushaiqer, a World Heritage Site located at the foot of an imposing red mountain to which it owes much of its historical relevance. Upon arrival, we'll begin to walk through its streets, learning about its past. Did you know that it's more than a millennium old?
Ushaiqer has been a point of reference for pilgrims travelling to Mecca from Kuwait thanks to its freshwater springs and its extensive olive and palm plantations, which offer shade to escape the harsh desert climate.
During the tour of Ushaiqer, we'll walk through its narrow streets and admire its traditional Najdi-style houses. Ushaiqer is also home to elegant palaces and ancient mosques that will leave you speechless.
To complete the visit to Ushaiqer, we'll enter the Al Salem Museum, a museum created by its inhabitants which showcases their local heritage, displaying such as ancient tools, embroidered clothing, jewellery and weapons.
We'll leave Ushaiqer and, before arriving at Riad, we'll stop for a delicious picnic lunch in the middle of the desert - quite the place for a picnic!
With your batteries recharged, we'll leave you back at your hotel about 8 hours after the start of the tour.
