Campeche Guided Tour
Yucatan is full of artistic and monumental jewels which are evidence of its colonial heritage. One of them is the historical center of San Francisco de Campeche which is built around the beautiful Parque Principal square. We will meet up at 9 am to begin a fantastic walking tour around the most iconic areas of this captivating city.
First, we will visit the city's Cathedral and its important museum, where you will find an outstanding collection of sacred art belonging to different eras and styles. Our tour of Campeche on foot then continues with a visit to the Cultural Center 6. In this old colonial house, we will learn what life was like from the 17th to the 19th-century.
To learn even more about the fascinating history of this city we will also visit its famous forts. From Cultural Center 6 we go to the nearby Bastion of Our Lady of Solitude (Baluarte de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad): a majestic fortress that currently houses the Museum of Mayan Architecture.
After visiting the museum, we will visit two other outstanding defensive monuments in Campeche: the Puerta de Tierra city gate and the bastion of San Carlos. Then we head to the Church of San Román, where you will witness the famous carving of the Black Christ of Campeche. As a final touch, we will take a stroll along the popular 59th Street, in whose surroundings we will visit the famous Tukulná Handicrafts House. This wonderful walking tour of Campeche finishes at 11:30 am back at the Parque Principal town square.
