Discover one of the world's most important prehistoric sites, and explore the natural wonder of central France when you take our fantastic guided tour of Lascaux Cave and Vezere Valley from Sarlat.
Lascaux Cave and Vezere Valley Trip
We will pick you up at the agreed meeting point in the center of Sarlat and then travel by minibus to the Lascaux International Center of Art. The thirty-minute journey will take us through the beautiful region of New Aquitaine, before arriving at the museum focused on technology, art, and history.
There, our professional guide will show us around the interior of the cave, as well as the onsite museum. We will see the world-famous cave paintings, the art theatre, and the interactive artworks designed to give you a better understanding of the historical context of the site.
Enjoying this magical mix of history and technology, we discover just why Time magazine considered Lascaux Cave Museum one of the 100 best places to visit in the world. In addition to the guided tour, you will also have free time to explore the museum in greater depth and discover even more fascinating details about the origins of Humanity.
When we finish our prehistoric tour of the Lascaux Cave, our minibus will then take us into the heart of the stunning Vezere Valley.
We then cross over the Vezere river to Les Eyzies de Tayac, known as the World's Capital of Prehistory for its numerous archaeological sites. It was here, in the 19th century, that the French archaeologist Louis Lartet found the five oldest skeletons of Homo sapiens in the world.
Our last stop will be at the small, picturesque village of Saint Leon on the banks of the Vezere river. Here we will take a walking tour through its pretty cobbled streets and past all the important landmarks.
We finish the guided tour of Lascaux Cave and the Vezere Valley back in Sarlat.
