Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet you at a central spot in Tokyo. From there, we’ll leave the bustling city behind and set off on a journey to the serene beauty of Nikko. Let’s go!
After a bus ride of approximately 2.5 hours, we'll arrive at our destination. First, we'll cross the sacred Shinkyo Bridge, and from there we will arrive at the Toshogu Temple. This Shinto shrine houses the tomb of the first shogun of the Tokugawa clan. We will talk about the importance of this character in Japanese culture.
What's more, we'll tell you all kinds of fun facts about the temples of Nikko, such as its peculiar decoration featuring animals like monkeys, cats, and dragons. Afterward, we'll continue the tour to the Kegon Waterfall, an impressive cascade that will leave you speechless.
We’ll also learn about the unique details of Nikko’s temples, from their exquisite animal motifs—such as monkeys, cats, and dragons—to the stories they represent. Afterward, we’ll continue to the breathtaking Kegon Waterfall, a natural wonder that promises to leave you in awe.
Near the waterfall, you’ll have about an hour of free time to enjoy lunch, a perfect chance to savor authentic Japanese cuisine. Recharged and refreshed, we’ll visit Lake Chuzenji, a serene spot on the outskirts of Nikko offering spectacular views and a great photo opportunity.
Finally, we’ll wrap up this enriching 11-hour tour with a return trip to Tokyo, arriving back at the meeting point.
Tour Options
When booking, you can choose from the following options:
- Tour without tickets or lunch: in this case, neither tickets nor lunch are included.
- Tour with tickets and without lunch: if you choose this option, admission tickets are included, but lunch is not.
- Tour with tickets and lunch: this option includes tickets and lunch, which consists of fried trout with side dishes such as soup, rice and yuba. However, depending on availability, you may choose from the à la carte menu.
Itinerary Changes
Please note that, for organisational reasons, the order of the visits described in the itinerary may vary.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the roads leading to Kegon Waterfall may be closed, limiting access to this part of the route. If this happens, the route will be modified, and we'll make an alternative stop outside Rinnoji Temple.
Depending on availability, please note that in January and February, due to the weather, the visit to the Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji will be replaced with a scenic tour of the Rinnoji Temple and the Futarasan jinja shrine.

If you want to see Kegon Waterfall up close, you can take an elevator that will take you to the area closest to the water. Nevertheless, the waterfall can be perfectly admired from the free platform we'll stop at.
