Activity Details

We'll meet at the indicated time at a strategic point in Uvita or at the entrance of the Marino Ballena National Park, depending on your choice. From there, we'll head to a nearby dock to set off on an unforgettable cruise along the western coast of Costa Rica.

As we sail along this area of the Pacific, we'll admire different specimens of whales and dolphins swimming in its waters. In addition to spotting these cetaceans, we'll also see different kinds of sea turtles that live in this rich ecosystem.

We'll continue our journey by sailing to Isla Ballena. Once there, we'll stop off at the coast of this small uninhabited islet so that you can go snorkelling and take a refreshing dip in the open sea.

After this dip, we'll return to the boat to continue sailing towards a new point in the marine park, which will vary depending on the weather conditions on the day. Admiring the exuberant nature is guaranteed!

Finally, after a total of between 3 and 3.5 hours, we'll conclude the boat trip through Ballena Marine National Park by returning to the starting point.

Itinerary Order

Please keep in mind that, for organisational reasons, the order of visits described in the itinerary may vary.

Whale & Dolphin Watching

The coast of Uvita is one of the best places in Costa Rica to see whales, dolphins and other cetaceans. However, animals are unpredictable. The sighting of a greater or lesser number of specimens will depend on various factors such as the weather at the time or the reproduction and breeding seasons of the different species, especially during the months of December through April and July through October.

Rainy Season

Please note that although whales are also present from July to October, these months correspond to the rainy season in the region. Therefore, visibility may be reduced and activities such as swimming or snorkelling may be interrupted.
