La Tomatina in Buñol is one of the most fun experiences you can have in Spain during the summer. The tomato battle lasts approximately one hour, usually from 12:00 to 13:00. During this time, several trucks loaded with overripe, unfit tomatoes enter the narrow streets of Buñol. Once in the area of ​​the town designated for this unique tomato fight, the drivers unload their cargo, and it's time to pick up the tomatoes from the ground and start throwing them. The streets and the people become completely covered in red.

This festival is strictly controlled, as basic safety rules must be followed to ensure everything runs smoothly:

• Tomatoes must be crushed before throwing them.
• It is forbidden to enter the area with bottles, bags, or any hard objects. Only tomatoes can be thrown.
• It is not permitted to tear or rip the clothing of other participants.
• Take care to allow the trucks to pass safely.
• As soon as the closing alarm sounds, the festival must end, and no more tomatoes can be thrown.

After the tomato fight, the streets of Buñol are thoroughly cleaned by the fire department, who use high-pressure water hoses to leave everything as if nothing had happened.
