Chaves 4x4 Tour
At the scheduled time we'll pick you up from your hotel in Vila Pouca de Aguiar in a 4x4 vehicle, and head to Chaves. Once there, we'll visit its medieval fortress. The castle currently houses a military museum and has witnessed the warlike conflicts between the Portuguese and the Spanish for centuries.
After the visit to the castle of Chaves, we'll go to the forts of São Francisco and São Neutel, bastions of defence for the city in the 17th century. The next stop on the tour will be the Roman bridge of Trajan, the first Hispanic emperor. Did you know that its arches have remained intact since Roman times?
We'll leave the village behind us, to tour the main points of the region around Chaves. This is an area surrounded by legends of thieves and smugglers, which we'll tell you all about during the tour. One of the points that we'll visit during the route is the castle of Monforte, declared a National Monument in 1950.
We'll then return to Chaves to visit the Roman thermal baths, whose medicinal waters are among the warmest in Europe.
After a three and a half hour tour, we'll return to Vila Pouca de Anguiar and take you back to your hotel.
